# High-Impact Forex News Events Every Trader Should Watch

Hundreds of economic events release every month, but only a handful consistently move currency markets. Master this short list and you'll know where the real risk — and opportunity — sits each week.

## 1. Central-Bank Interest-Rate Decisions
**The #1 driver of forex.** When the Fed, ECB, BOE, or BOJ changes rates (or signals future changes), currencies re-price instantly. The accompanying statement and press conference often move the market more than the decision itself.

## 2. Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP)
The US jobs report, first Friday of each month at 8:30 AM ET. The headline jobs number, unemployment rate, and wage growth together make this the most-watched single data release in the world.

## 3. Inflation (CPI)
Mid-month at 8:30 AM ET. Inflation dictates what central banks do next, so CPI is effectively a preview of future rate moves. Core CPI (excluding food and energy) matters most.

## 4. GDP (Gross Domestic Product)
The broadest measure of economic health, released quarterly. Strong growth supports a currency; contraction pressures it. The advance/preliminary estimates move markets more than the final revision.

## 5. Central-Bank Speeches
When the Fed Chair, ECB President, or other senior officials speak, a single sentence can shift rate expectations. These are scheduled events — your calendar flags them in advance.

## 6. PMIs (Purchasing Managers' Indexes)
Manufacturing and services PMIs are timely health checks on the economy. A reading above 50 signals expansion; below 50, contraction. Big surprises move the relevant currency.

## 7. Employment & Wages (beyond NFP)
Jobless claims (weekly), ADP payrolls, and average hourly earnings all feed the rate-expectations picture, especially in the days around NFP.

## How to Use This List

You don't need to track everything — you need to track **these**. Each morning:
1. Scan the calendar for any of the events above.
2. Note which currency they affect and the exact time.
3. Plan: trade it or stay flat through it.

Filter your calendar to high-impact only and you'll see mostly this list — the events that actually decide whether today is a calm session or a volatile one.
